Trading Standards makes sure that consumer goods sold or supplied in Barnsley are safe to use. We do this by:
- inspecting premises
- regularly sampling and testing products
- investigating complaints
Some of the things we look at are:
- sales of age-restricted products
- toy safety
- electrical product safety
- vehicle safety

Reporting an unsafe product
You can report an unsafe product to us using our online form.
Please provide as much detail as you can. Try to include the name and location of the retailer, details of the problem and any discussions you've had. It's also useful to keep any relevant records, invoices and receipts in a safe place in case they're needed at a later date.
Please keep us informed of any developments, in particular where disputes have been resolved.
