Join local author, Matthew Goodwin for an evening discussing his new book 'More Famous Than Fergie: Norman Rimmington Story. Matt is a football writer and commentator, having written for several football clubs including Barnsley, Sunderland, Rotherham United, Derby County and Lincoln City. He is the senior commentator for Rotherham United and has covered both the Millers and Barnsley for BBC Radio Sheffield. He worked on the 2017 football documentary ‘Daydream Believers’ as Associate Producer. Norman Rimmington BEM is a name synonymous with Barnsley Football Club, but he was a man who left an indelible mark on the wider footballing world. Known affectionately as ‘Rimmo’ by those who knew him, he was a fearless goalkeeper who took a paycut from his job as a fitter at North Gawber pit to sign for Barnsley in 1945 as a part-time professional. This will be an excellent talk for anyone interested in Barnsley's football history. All welcome.
