Best-selling crime author Michael Wood was born and raised in Sheffield where his gripping detective series featuring DCI Matilda Darke is set. Before becoming a full-time author, Michael was a journalist and proof-reader. At this event, he will talk about his journey into publishing, focusing mainly on the 14-book Matilda Darke series. His Dr Olivia Winter series of psychological thrillers is hugely popular, and he has also written several standalone novels. When he's not trying to think up ingenious ways of murdering people, Michael is reading books about ingenious ways of murdering people while drinking incredibly strong black coffee and biting the heads off a Freddo. He lives in Newcastle.
