Barnsley-born author Mike Padgett will discuss his book 'SCRAP', a novel about the struggles of former miner Phil Steele, ten years after the pit closed, and how his attempt to regain his self-respect and dignity puts his family's future under even greater strain. Mike will explain how his upbringing in Barnsley led him to take up writing and helped shape SCRAP. He will read a couple of passages from the book and then discuss the writing process from the original idea of the novel to its eventual publication. There will be plenty of time for questions, and at the end of the talk signed copies of his two books, SCRAP and As Far As We Can, will be on sale. Book your free place here.
