Mike Padgett is from a mining family and had a wonderful time growing up on a council estate in Barnsley. After completing his apprenticeship as a gas fitter he and two friends travelled overland in a campervan to India before boarding a ship to Australia. Mike's book, 'As Far As We Can', is a travel/memoir based on this epic 1970s odyssey. Published in May 2021, it is an Amazon best seller.
