Description

Maurice Dobson was born in Darfield in 1912, and soon made his presence felt. Openly gay at a time when homosexuality was still illegal, Maurice lived, loved and laiked: making himself an integral part of Darfield. Unapologetic, acid tongued, and a pillar of the community, Maurice’s story deserves to be celebrated. Join poet Tom Juniper for a celebration of Maurice’s life and a look at Darfield in days gone by. Tom is a poet based in Sheffield. Their work often focuses on the experience of being other, whether that’s talking about being autistic or being part of the queer community, or about the Other as in strange and mysterious creatures from folklore traditions.
