Description

Please bring your own laptop or tablet if possible. We have a limited number available for people to borrow who are unable to do so. A beginners guide to synthesisers aims to explore different kinds of synthesisers, starting at basic principles learning to shape sounds with subtractive synthesis and then moving on to making more complex tones, and resynthesising pieces of audio. This workshop will provide participants with a grounding of synthesisers while also allowing exploration of their immense creative possibility. Mia Windsor is an experimental composer, improviser and educator based in Leeds. Mia regularly performs with live electronics using software she has coded in solo and duo settings. She also plays synthesiser and sings in the noise-pop band Static Caravan. Mia regularly runs music technology workshops through organisations such as Yorkshire Sound Women Network, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival and the University of Huddersfield.
