Marta Seiler talks about Surviving the Holocaust and Stalin

27 January 2023
2:00pm until 3:00pm
Library @ the Lightbox

Description

In partnership with Off The Shelf, for the Holocaust Memorial Day, we are welcoming Marta Seiler to the Lightbox Library. Join Marta as she talks about her families history. As Hungarian Jews, they faced persecution of the very worst kind both from their own government and Nazi Germany. After liberation by the Soviets at the end of WWII they endured further punishment from the Stalinist regime concealed behind the Iron Curtain. Exploring themes of resilience, identity and inherited trauma, Marta talks about how she rediscovered her forbidden Jewish identity, found her place within the community and has moved toward a place of tolerance.
